Krav Maga, a system for combative self-defense, has a rich and long history. Imi Lichtenfeild (an Israeli Martial Artist) developed the martial art in the 1940s. He taught various fighting methods to the Jewish community of Bratislava, Slovakia. His training allowed the Jewish community to defend itself against the Nazi militia. After the war, Lichtenfeild moved to Palestine and taught aggressive hand-to-hand combat techniques to the underground army of the Jewish people.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling system with an emphasis on throws, joint locks, chokes and striking. This system can be used to defend yourself, or it can also serve as a sport.

Krav Maga, which is different to BJJ is that it assumes that the opponent has always been armed and is intent on killing. It is a martial art that originated with the Israeli military and is often opened by actions that are illegal in most countries. Krav Maga emphasizes striking and self defense, but Jiu Jitsu concentrates more on grappling or ground fighting. The techniques learned in this system can be effective against bigger and stronger opponents.

Krav Maga ranks higher than BJJ. Krav Maga has two coral belt ranks, while BJJ has only one black belt rank. Both systems emphasize grappling but Krav Maga allows for more aggressive techniques to be used in real-world situations.

Krav Maga

BJJJ, Krav Maga, are two distinct styles of self defense. However they complement each others. Learning both is essential if one wants to master self defense techniques. BJJ, a popular sport, has a rich tradition of competition. This martial art emphasizes body manipulation and leverage in self defense. Krav Maga is a self defense system originally intended for military use. It teaches deadly techniques as well as defense moves against weapons and other threats.

Imi Lichtenfeld is the founder of Krav Maga. He was born in Hungary. His father was a boxer and a grappler, so he learned these skills as a teenager. He joined resistance organizations throughout Europe to fight Nazi oppression during World War II. He eventually immigrated to Israel, which was just formed. While there, he taught the fighting system to police officers and civilians. Today, Krav Maga is taught around the world. The International Krav Maga Federation oversees its curriculum. Krav Maga Global is also involved in the oversight of it.

Combative self-defense

BJJ (Krav Maga) and Krav Maga (BJJJ) are two martial arts that you can use to protect yourself. Both martial arts can be used to self-defense. However, BJJ has more flexibility and can help you manage your opponent. However, it can also land you in trouble with the law, so you should be cautious before taking a class in either of these disciplines.

Krav Maga's techniques are extremely violent and are meant for life-threatening situations. This is not something most people need to encounter in their daily lives. In 99.9% of self-defense situations the situation is not life-or death. You should neutralize your attacker and not resort to violence. This is both for your own safety, and for the safety of your opponent.

Krav Maga’s history is long and rich. Imi Lichtenfeld was an Israeli Martial Artist who created Krav Maga in order to protect his Jewish community. He realized that real fight is very different than competition fighting. Furthermore, he discovered that fighting in the street was impossible with boxing and wrestling. Eventually, Lichtenfeld began blending different techniques to create the unique techniques that are used in Krav Maga today.
