UB Athletics
Students interested to combat violent behavior may be offered self-defense workshops by UB Athletics. For these seminars students must have a valid UB Student Card/Intramural Sports Permit Card. If a student is found guilty of misconduct, the University may stop the contest, forfeit one or both teams or suspend that team.
These workshops are taught and certified by Rape Aggression Defense Instructors by the University at Buffalo Police Department. Anyone who is interested in sexual assault prevention can attend these workshops. They are open to everyone in the UB Community and are free. Renzo Gracie Academy
Greenpoint Branch of the Renzo Gracie Academy hosted a Women's Self-Defense Seminar for the Community on March 19. Arthan Bender, an instructor from the Academy, was the guest instructor. The seminar was organized by Chen and Bandeira after several clients asked. Both have been training together over three years, and they practice at least twice a day. In the first seminar, students learned how to defend themselves against various threats.
